28. August ist Read Comics in Public Day!

Am 28. August ist der internationale READ COMICS IN PUBLIC Day!

In 2010 fand er zum ersten Mal statt: der "Read Comics in Public Day", ausgerufen von einem alternativen Comicblog. Die Idee: Comics öffentlich lesen, Foto davon machen, und online stellen.

Und auch dieses Jahr wird es am 28. August wieder einen Public-Reading-Day geben.

• Auf Facebook gibt es die Seite "Comics in der Öffentlichkeit lesen", mit Pinnwandeinträgen und weiteren Links
• Twitter-Hashtag ist: #readcomicsinpublic
• Bei "International Read Comics in Public Day" sind geplante Meeting-Place gelistet - quer durch die USA, aber auch in Australien, Tel Aviv, und Berlin (+ FB-Seite)

Die Idee
Grober Unfug hat einen deutschen Post zu dem Event. Und auf der readcomicsinpublic.com Webseite gibt es weitere Infos: The concept is fairly simple: we're asking that everyone take an hour or two out of their day on August 28th to read a comic book in a public setting–a park bench, a beach, a bus, the front steps of your local library. Let strangers see you reading a piece of sequential art.

Take to the streets. Be proud. If someone asks what you're reading, say, "a comic book" (the phrase "graphic novel" is also acceptable, but let's face it, it sort of defeats the whole purpose). Heck, lend them a book, if you've got an extra–what better way to make a new friend and convert a new reader?
